    Hello,

Can anyone give me an idea of what a mint condition 1980 SG Standard would be worth. All original with case.

I have a line on one, but I'm not sure of the value. Is this a decent year?

It's a dark nice cherry finish. Any take on this model year, specs? It has a weird bridge... Not sure what they call it?

harmonica bridge? roughly the shape and size of a hummer grille.

I have a 79 and like it but these are a little diff with the
Neck set further into the body so it touches the neck pickup
Also parts for the harmonic bridge are hard to find. Try to
    Get it for under $800.00

I like that short neck set! I used to NOT like it, but I sort of prefer the balance and that the neck pup is a tad closer to the neck.

That looks like it, only it is much darker in color.... Did I say it is a lefty??? Any value added for that?

The lefty SG...are those bevels as shallow and rounded as the picture makes them look? Just curious what else went on with those short-tenon models.

likely yes. everdying's estimate looks to be on par and then some, plus the lefty premium.

...1980 SG Standard... Is this a decent year?[/quote]

i'd say so. it's a Norlin, y'all should know by now my high opinion of the guitars of that era. yours in particular appears to have the wider, more flared headstock, which imo is more desirable. mine is an '82 so the headstock became narrower just a year or two after yours.

i don't care for the harmonica bridge, again just my opinion, sometimes you have to accept (or don't buy) some of the Norlin weirdness. of course, parts can be changed. i've changed bridges (among other things, for the sake of aesthetics) on both my Norlin SGs.

yes, shallow bevels, consistent with other SGs made in the Norlin era.
