2018 was the only year offered. In fact I got mine specifically because I wanted a 'burst SG with small pickguard and full appointments (trap inlays, binding, etc.) First new Gibson I purchased in over 10 years in fact and because of how good this guitar is it won't be the last. (I originally had told myself I would not buy new anymore due to price and quality reasons)

As far as pickups, I am a traditionalist and liked the '61 pickups enough to keep them and not even take out the circuit board if that tells you anything.

It does have a slimmer neck but I would say get one if you want it because they seem to be popular and will get harder to find. I would go as far to say that it is my favorite SG finish. No pressure though! Haha.
