Hi All - I'm in the process of purchasing a 2006 Gibson USA SG Junior with a batwing pickguard. This pickguard is creme (factory order) but I want to purchase a black one to go on this yellow Junior. Does anyone here have a 2006 Junior like mine (a USA model, not Custom Shop) with that pickguard, and can someone suggest a good shop to have one made in case I can't find one on the web? Thanks.

Thanks. It looks like the pickguard is no different than other Juniors that had the batwing in the 1999 - 2010 time frame.

If you can, ask for it with a wide bevel angle. Looks much nicer IMO:

It sounds like you found one of those special run 2006 SG Juniors. They were finished in one of the three pastel colors of either Corona Yellow, Coral Pink, Caribbean Blue.

Yes, I have! In Australia. Although Gibson called it Creme Yellow when I went through their service line to verify the date of build, etc.

Absolutely! It is certainly a bit different than TV Yellow.

You own that? Or a stock picture? Looks great! I plan on getting a black pickguard and will keep the faded creme for historical reasons. I also see dial pointers and reflector knobs in its future. I will take a look at the tailpiece, pickup and tuners after I get it. I love the yellow color - a very good variant from the TV Yellow family of Gibson. I have been looking at the Seymour Duncan humbuckers under the soapbar cover - they can make a Pearly Gates version for this guitar.

This is a picture from a search engine, the finish is gloss. Very good choice.

Officially purchased the 2006 SG Junior - now I can wait the 8 or 9 days to get it from Australia. That's too long! LOL The original pickguard is single ply - should I get a single, 3 or 5 ply pickguard? I'm thinking the single or 3 ply with a wide bevel (on the 3). The 5 may be too showy. What does everyone think?

    Congrats on the SG Junior!

Can't go wrong with the 3-ply since that's what was used on the original Juniors with batwings. You don't have to stick with traditional aesthetics. Choose the look that inspires you to play that guitar.

Thanks! Good to know that the original ones had 3 ply....
