though the gibson site is not updated yet, the first 2016 gibson start to show up

and we are back to the basics.no les paul 100 logo, no brass nut, standard neck width, no min-e tune, no coil-taps, and back to the big pickguard.
we're also back to the old prices. what do u think?? me like it, although i prefer the small pickguard.
i'm also curious about the pick up configuration. is it 57 classics or the 490/498 combo?

best thing for me is that the standard is back at 1199$
although i think that it comes with a gig bag.the guy that bought the guitar says that 1500$ and up guitars come with hard case. thats a bad thing. but the rest are GREAT!

My 2011 Standard came with a case ... it was over $1500 though, I think it was $1600 ... we get shafted here in Australia.

That was a deep discount, by the way.

My 2013 cost me 1200€ which is something like 1341$,and the gibson site back then said the standard cost 1199$. Guess we who are on the other side of the ocean (europe, australia) have to pay more due to transfer costs.

Screwed. A lot of people are asking that price for second-hand recent SGs as they paid a lot more than that.

The price shifts with the exchange rate. When I bought my Standard the 2013 Standards were in the shops at around $2000+

I'm hoping that's what the 2016 models will be like! Back to the basics :)

Someone explain how that serial number works if the calendar year 2016 hasn't begun yet.

just because its a 2016 model, doesnt mean its built within 2016. i bought my 2013 in august of 2013, and the 2014 model were introduced in september-octomber of 2013

As for the serial number, i suspect that they have changed again the form of their serial numbers

Am I the only one who thinks that this could be (and most def is) a hoax? Someone could have easily photoshopped a picture of a 2011/2012 SG Standard.

The only source I would trust is the official website. Other than that I don't think that gibson is going back to basics... We've read in several interviews that Henry is keeping the Gforce and all the other bullshit for good.

The tag says "SG Standard T". So I'm guessing now there's an SG Traditional, like the LP. Still wouldn't buy anything from Henry Jackwad.

They stopped them on standard run guitars in 2014. Yours was a store chain "special limited" run, wasn't it? Something for sam ash, or american musical supply, or something...
