We gotta stop jacking this thread with our squire love, but yeah i had a vintage modified jazz bass that I lost in a trade. That thing was insanely good!

Funny U mention a VM Jazz. I too had one, a Jazz 77 that I sold to pay some bills. It was the black one with Maple Board and white block inlays

Back to the original point of the thread.

I sort of called down these guitars and that was a mistake. I am upset that Gibson is using the Firebird name for something that bares only superficial resemblance to a Firebird but in the end it may be a really good buy for someone looking for a new Gibson guitar. I'll have to try one before I make up my mind.

I kinda made the same point early on. If it has good pickups, decent neck and frets, plays ok, well $500 is fine. It not really a Firebird, but so what?

Yeah I'm not impressed. My 2013 '70s Trib for $599 is way more guitar for the money.

Count me as one who doesn't care for the Firebird Zero, it may sound okay but in my opinion it looks horrible. That makes it a no go for me. I picked up a 2016 for 1099. Not a bad price for a Bird. I didn't get a hard case but oh well.

I picked up an Epiphone Firebird case for mine for $109 from AMS. Fits perfectly and actually nicer than I would have guessed for the price.

I've owned a Firebird Zero for several months now and I have got to say that it is a great guitar. Mine has no bridge or neck angle issues and is a joy to play. Super light and resonant. FullSizeRender (8).jpg

I took one off the rack at GC a couple months ago. What a cheap feeling pile. I couldn't put it back fast enough. I'm sure they can be made to play well, but they look so odd it's a turn off. All they had to do was a touch more neck angle so you/I could mod it a bit. This whole series have the bridge decked, some so bad they're unusable-can't get the bridge low enough.

I have a metric s-ton of inexpensive Chinese guitars. I'm not a hater. IMO these are way overpriced just because they say G on 'em. The husks on Stratosphere are even too much at $279.

*edit- Someone saved me the trouble of removing the neck & resetting it, but already the bidding is too high.

Can't comment on the fit, but that sure came away clean. Oh well, I can't wrap my head around that inverted shape anyway.

I'd take a Fusion though (from this S series). I wouldn't pay over $100 though. At least it looks SG'ish.

Great guitar for leftys! Have at 'em!
