It goes around the pins and from the looks of things fits rather securely. Methinks this is much ado about nothing.

I'm more inclined to say it's a little ado about nothing!

Speaking of the spoiler and in case anyone is wondering:
I contacted Vibramate and the spoiler is designed and constructed
to not change the lever travel to pitch bend ratio of the Bigsby.
Your Bigsby will have the same feel.

    I broke a G string when I was setting up The Lady - I fingered A minor.

... oh, and BTW... broke the D string at yesterdays practice with Project #4. Was not hammering a chord out and think it was more my pick style of strumming. Looks like it gave away at about the same place between the two bars. I find this interesting. I'd be interested in seeing if anyone else has seen this with the Bigsby......

To report the above suggestion........ It works like a champ, was able to change the string start to finish in about 4 minutes AND is prolly the least expensive way to attack the issue! Works like a dream! :thumb:

Maybe you got Chibson Bintage erevens instead of Gibson Vintage 11's?

You are making this way too complicated... forget the eraser head, you need to buy a second SG with a Bigsby to have as a backup... you know, just in case..

Ahhhhh Hector....... I like your idea, but even with a backup, don't you have the possibility of needing to change the backup as well? Or is it one of those cases you get a backup for the backup...?

OK... update. Broke another string. This time the B. It still is the same set of strings that are breaking so I'm thinking maybe a bad set...? Anyway, this is getting really weird. I don't think that I have broken this many strings over the past 2 to 3 years........... May take the Witch in to Sweetwater and have them take a look at it. After all, they're the ones that set it up.

For a long time, I'd avoided getting a guitar with a Bigsby on it, just because changing the strings is such an endeavor.

Until a certain guitar came into my life, which just had to come home with me... :naughty:

But as luck would have it, it came with the Vibramate gizmo on it... and I tell ya, it's honestly pretty incredible. Makes changing the strings no more complicated than any other guitar. I've no need for a capo or any other special tools (save a string winder, maybe). I would highly recommend it.

Callaham makes a nice main string shaft with holes for Bigsby $40.00.
