I'm not sure about these "amp in a box" pedals, but there are loads around.

I'm currently borrowing a work colleague's "plexi in a box"; this is quite a cheap one:

These are like Joyo pedals, cheap and cheerful (obviously some folks like 'em, some folks less so, and some folks errrr...). The sound is fine, it does beef up a clean ss amp pretty well, but does nothing at all for my baby Randall dirty tube amp. So, I suppose it's designed for folks that have a clean amp and want to use it as a dirty channel in one easily footswitchable box? I can certainly see the use for that.

Dave just posted about this MXR pedal which I presume is a similar concept:

These are $200, so you are talking quite nice amp money now. They do get a lot pricier too...

Anybody use these pedals (which one/any good)? Anybody dislike them?

I'm kinda half and half; I can see how they might be useful (and they're just distortion pedals after all), but I quite like amps...

Not arrived yet. I checked the Japan Post tracking and it should be here on Monday.

I've actually got 5 new pedals (and 3 I borrowed from a work colleague), so I'll be doing a review thread on that lot in a week or so. :D

& if anybody needs to buy some pedals then let me know because to get back in the black I'll be selling some off...:facepalm:

JG, whatcha wanna swap that Lil Nightrain head for?

Anways, here is an indication of the kinda insanity I've been at recently - all these pedals going into a Randall!

    20151103_213056_resized.jpg

MXR OD into Onecontrol dist into Okko Dominator into plexi emulator into Son of Fuzzhead Fuzz into the baby Randall. Should be enough dirt there for most folks...

I'll only be keeping the Keeley and maybe either the MXR or the OneControl.
