Well this explains the recent mark-downs from the big online store retailers.

Countdown to Gibby's 2019 New Colletions Release has begun!

Wow, I noticed a markdown at AMS and was wondering why. I thought the few models they added after Henry left were the extent of the changes for this year. They sure aren't wasting any time!

Fingers crossed for a '68 Reissue! It's a longshot but the new guy does seem to get that people want vintage style stuff. The P90 Special is one of the best new models since the SG Original if you ask me.

Hopefully they'll be bringing back the '61' Standard with Vibrola that they announced months ago and which then disappeared from their website. Even more hopefully, perhaps they'll offering it in more colours than cherry! :)

I hope so.. and the '64 also! Although I couldn't wait. Just picked up an SG Original today. At least the crown inlay will be in the right location. ;)

So someone i forget who noted that gibson is supposed to be moving away from a yearly mode ... but this sure seems like the 2020 models?

I guess we will know more in 10 days ... or a year and 10 days from now?

I wish when they did vintage style stuff, they'd not only take into account the body shape and cosmetic features, but also...the heel shape.

Not really. Gibson have been announcing the next year's models in September, so the 2020 Models would've been announced in September, not April. This looks more like Gibson getting their full 'core line' in place, and perhaps announcing a few 'special runs' for 2019, having hopefully spent the last few months getting their Quality Control sorted out... :)

I wouldn't put too much stock in what's on the website. They accidentally showed all the earlier new models before announcing this year. They seem to be constantly messing around with the website lately. With the super positive reaction to their announcement, I highly doubt they've actually gotten rid of the Vibrola models.

What have they not done that for? The Special has the '61 style heel.

Yeah we are going to know when it rolls out eh?

My shot in the dark guess is that we get a combination of the new ones that were announced/shown at NAMM 2019 and some of the 2019 lineup stays also.

Don't take away my HP models please yikes!

Contemporary lineup is what it's called now. No robot tuners, traditional nut, wider fingerboard (like the HPs), apex headstock joint (alien volute) IIRC, ebony fingerboards, MOP inlays, maple caps on the SGs, no nibs, and push pulls all around. Pretty much everything you guys saw at NAMM is what you should expect.

I dunno my guess is the zero fret titanium nut is available somewhere in lineup along with titanium saddles ...

I work at a dealer. It is not in the lineup at all IIRC, which I am happy about as I've had to replace 3 of the titanium ones

Has Gibson changed the dealership terms/quotas for buy-ins?

I guess that's the cost of doing business. Hate to be right again, but Mom and Pop are S.O.L

This continues to be a big bummer for me. I guess it's my fault for moving away from the big cities. Last time I seen and fondled some new Gibsons was at the 2009 Winter NAMM show...
