That's one stunning guitar. Sheer beauty.
This is SG Bling 101 and well done Jerry. Welcome to the zoo. You'll meet the wardens and some bleacher coaches soon. They will suggest you do a proper introduction on the Welcome Wagon thread here http://www.everythingsg.com/forums/welcome-wagon.67/
Not me, I would never do that.
That is a very sexy SG you got there. Did you have anything to do with the transformation ?
My 2016 SG Special 70's Tribute. A wicked little guitar!
More pictures ?
Sure. New here and I'm old! Figuring out how to navigate ! A lot of the pics I'm trying to post are coming up "File too large"
Welcome Jerry. Great lookin Black Custom
No. I went with a buddy of mine to pick up a '71 Les Paul he was having refinished and the owner of the shop walked out with a sanded down red body, the Ebony and headstock were already done He told me he was turning a '61 reissue into a "Black Beauty". I gave him a $200.00 deposit and told him to call me when it was done. This is the end result of his vision. He's doing another for me now out of a white 2014. It's going to be just like this black one but in white. It plays and sounds great!
I love the waffle back tuners. Adds a classic look to it.
Not sure how to do the Welcome Wagon yet. I will figure it out but thanks for adding me.
Thank you! the shop that built it is based in Akron, Ohio. Lay's Guitar shop. They had the SIT Strings. Not sure if they're still making them but they've been around for years. The guy that owns it now, Dan Shinn started working for Virgil Lay in '78 and bought the shop when Virgil retired. They specialize in Gibsons and if you can imagine it, they can build it I mentioned he's doing a white one for me now. I liked this one so much I figured it needed a buddy.
This thread has been dead for too long. Lately there have been quite a few black SGs on ETSG, and the only responsible thing to do is to post LOTS of great pics in this thread. And being a relatively new memeber og the Black SG Club I feel it's my duty to post here even though I have alteady posted the picture below in a different thread. Come on, guys! Let's see some more black SGs.
Wow, I forgot this club existed. Hope I can get in with this Ebony 2016 Standard HP:
Alongside my '14 Standard:
My '98 Standard. Got it in '08. It's got some small flaws (paint chip on side of one of the horns which was sort of repaired, Gibson headstock logos not cut and/or blended into headstock very well, some slight buckle worming on back)... but I still love it. Neck feels great. Had minimal fretwear. Basically minimal wear overall. All electronics are completely stock. ABR-1 bridge. I *think* it's a one piece body, but hard to tell on ebony SG's obviously.
Anyone who picks it up and plays it comments on how good it feels and sounds.
Seems as we're in this space:
I like this thread.
Blacked-out hardware, tuners, new pickguard & knobs, truss rod cover... pretty much everything that could be black, is black.
