What is this ? Brown you say ? Here I am !
Got this nice Korean 03 Vintage G400 this week. Not set up yet and it already looks good.
And ... and ... I got that 2005 of the same model about three months ago. That one has killer grain and plays real nice.
My 2018 Special, love it!
mini hums rock!
Killer SG Standard Bohemian CS Mink finish
Now I have one for this thread.
Lovely SG @arcticsg
Here's my Gib SG Special 2018, with swapped out control knobs 70's style
I was always a fan of Cherry and red is my favorite color. I had the opportunity to play a 2014 SGJ at one of my local shops and I was surprised at how well it played and how big the sound was. This plain looking bare bones guitar has a lot more to her than it seems. You pick it up and it feels great, strum a chord and the thing vibrates and resonates like a cat purring. The pickups sound loud but not too hot, just enough bite, bright and articulate the way you want pickups to sound. The price was right too, but it was brown and plain looking. I needed time to think about it. I gave it a few days and I couldn't stop thinking about that brown SGJ. I went back to the shop thinking I was the only one who wanted that plain brown guitar. Nope, it sold shortly after I left that day actually! I had my chance and my inability to appreciate her deemed me unworthy of her.
A couple weeks have gone by and I still have regret. Saturday morning I hit up Reverb and search for a brown SGJ like the one that got away. I found one but this one has some modifications, the owner put covers on the pickups, theres a batwing pickguard swapped the speed knobs for the standard knobs. I dont let this one get away. I usually don't buy American Made guitars that arent all original but the 2014 SGJ is a player's guitar, so I imagine there will be a lot of these with mods and I admit this one looks great. Now I have to wait a few days for this beautiful brunette to show up but add me to the list of Brown SG lovers.
Is it this nice one ?
A close cousin to mine !
That's cool looking. I was thinking of swapping out the knobs on my 2018 SG Special with black speed knobs because when I put it next to a '74 SG special the design was basically identical except: big headstock in the '74, black speed knobs on the '74, 24 frets on the 2018. But with both having the block inlays, mini humbuckers, small single ply guard a change to speed knobs would give mine a funky Norlin vibe.
