Built new pickups for the SG.............

    Alnico 5, 43 gauge, nickel/silver covers. 9.5k bridge, 8.1k neck.

    I'll try to get some sound samples out soon.

    What do you expect the 43 gauge will do for you? I guess it depends on windings, too...

    Experimentation, mostly. I've used 43 on tele bridge pickups(generally not done since the Broadcaster/nocaster era) as well as strat pickups(never done stock by Fender, AFAIK). Being thinner gives it a couple properties. You can pack in a higher turn count for a given bobbin size and it has less capacitant bleedover, making it easy to produce somewhat overwound pickups that retain a nice clean sound and good clarity under gain. I've had good luck with that on singles, so decided to experiment with humbuckers.
