+1 on the Creamtone pickguard. I have ordered their SG pickguard twice, once for a Derek Trucks signature SG and also for my 2018 Standard. Fit the 2018 perfectly, and you get the nice and wide bevel, like you would find on an original 1961 model.

Thanks. Never realized there were different bevels. I emailed Gibson this morning. Let's see what they say.

Just make you one. Nobody knows you better than you, and nobody cares about your guitar the way you do.

Got mine from Japan, where they can be quite particular about original fit, quality etc. Postage to the UK is generally quick and likewise to wherever you might be based.

I polished one out with virtuoso guitar polish and it looked great. I find the "wide" bevels on some of the aftermarkets too over the top to look authentic.

I love that polish. I used it to remove fine scratches from my guitars. The only thing that sucks is some of the scratches are close to the pickups, I guess I could mask them. I'd rather not remove the pickguard if possible if I'm just polishing it.

When you put a 5 ply wide bevel pickguard on your SG, it' s impossible to use a stock pickguard.

I also have a question for the pic-guard experts out there. Is it possible to put a full bat wing pick-guard on an SG that came with pick-up rings and a small guard? If so, would a full bat wing from a 67' SG Standard fit on a 2001 61' re-issue?

Yes, no problem. The pickguard fits the body and humbuckers fit the pickguard

Perhaps, but I’m pretty sure the screw hole nearest the pickup selector would be exposed if you were able to switch.

    Thank you for the information.
I'm gonna try an SG Standard pickguard I saw on EBay.
