I replaced my worn cherry G400 with a worn brown G400 (yeah, pretty shallow reason but the worn brown is pretty hot in my book, and I loved the G400 as it is). Got some pictures from Sweetwater before they boxed up and shipped my guitar and the neck has cream binding. My other one didn't. Is this a recent change? Pictures on the Epiphone website show the (what I'm assuming is the) older ones with no binding.

Certainly not complaining, just wondering if this is a new new thing!

Looks awesome, Feed. Not A g400 expert, sorry no answer to your question. But is looks like one I'd buy if I was shopping for Epi Sg's

Yep, it's kinda new. Mid season thing. For a while they had both.
Love the natural finish on a SG, your's is real nice !

The first ones made with binding, are from 2004 to 2007, if I remember well.

I have a 2004. At the time they called them Vintage and they didn't have veneer and the neck was one piece, no scarf joint. Alnico Classic and Classic+ pups. http://www.epiphone.com/news-featur...400--why-is-this-guitar-shaking-up-the-i.aspx

Here's mine before I buffed it. It's now shiny and the deep cherry color really stands out.

    Headstock inlays were gold.

    Cool, good to know.

The gold inlays on the older headstock look great! It's a shame they've done away with that.
