I had a set of Dimarzio super 59s for another project I decided to put on hold and put them in the SG. What do you think of the cream pickguard? Or no pickguard or black? I wouldn’t be opposed to taking off the rhythm treble plate also

I love pickguards and the plate too. It's just me I guess. I always have, even though it is a cheap piece of plastic, it finishes it off nicely.

Edit: I put one on mine too.

I like the cream pickguard with black poker chip. Not a fan of the cream knobs. Speed knobs are right for the era but the color looks weird to me.

I like both shots with the pickguard on, works with either the white or black poker chip. What are DiMarzio Super 59's? How do they sound?

They are supposed to be modled after the pickups in Larry Dimarzios 1959 Les Paul.
To me they sound great, although I haven’t been able to really push them yet. To me the bridge pup is one of the best one I’ve ever heard.

The cream or white just doesn't look right IMHO. Do you have the original Tarback pickups? If so give them a try. They actually sound pretty good. If not, the white pickups and selector would look great with the above. See avatar.................

Mixing cream and white, or non-matching creams, or whatever is going on w/ that pickguard is yukky, I think. I'd go all cream or all black, though I suppose w/ all black, you could do a white pickguard w/ black laminations.

Sans pickguard is the coolest most heavy rock look. If I had that SG Studio, That's how it would look.

There is another option I just thought of, all cream with block original or witch hat knobs

On mine, I pulled the lifeguard and attached headset screws into the empty holes.
