    hi,
i got this old dp 151 di marzio
i want to throw in the bridge position of my epi custom.

question is about how to solder since its a four wire one.
can someone give an advice about the color of the cables (black/white /green /red)
also:the blank one is for the ground??

Very simple: using the chart above, red wire is the hot one. black and white get wired together, and taped. Green goes to ground with the bare wire.
NOW, if you put it together, and in the middle position the pickups sound real thin, reverse the green and red wire. Sometimes it may be out of phase, and this fixes that.

There are 3 or 5 ways to wire those...depends if you want standard/factory type sounds (fat & warm) (series wiring) or cleaner, slightly brighter but lower output (parallel wiring).
Then there are the various "splitting & tapping" options...(You'll need to add some new switches or push/pull pots for these options though.)
The Dimarzio website has all the various diagrams for free or if you want...I can post the actual owners manual here (just installed a 36th Anny PAF last niteā€¦(wiring is the same for all 5 wire Dimarzios though.)...Just a quick note Sir: the Dimarzio may be a much tighter fit than your original...just be patient and keep your your wires/leads
orderly and a bit short and you shouldn't have any probs.

    thanx for the infos @All

im goin to wire it "series wiring" (thanx @Billy B )

    no coil tapping /splitting.
its gonna be installed into a 3 pick up custom.

i will check the diagrams on the dimarzio web site.

so as i understood white and black lead goes together
    (not soldered on ,just taped)

    red goes to the lug,
green on the top with the bare one.. right ??

Here is a good video explanation of the series & parallel options:

    done...

it was a bit difficult, as the thicker 4 wires were hard to get thru the little hole in the cavity,

also the length was nt on the longer range..:)

pot orignal wiring (epi hot ch)

    pot with soldered 4 wires
(green and blank on the top
red on the lug where the capacitor starts)

    done...

    sounds okay so far
    (only tried it via headphones)

the pole pieces of the dimarzio dismatch the strings a bit, but i guess
its not that important, or ?
