I have seen more than 1 Gibson where the serial was filled in with the lacquer as in the photos there.
They do make them, but they're relatively rare.
OP's SG is good.
It's because a counterfeit can bear a real serial number, giving a false positive.
That’s common with the solid colors where the finish color is sprayed on thicker to make certain no grain is visible after it is filled.
My SG that are finished in Ebony and Cream are that way.
It's normal for the finish to have hairline cracks around the logo because it's Mother of Pearl, which doesn't expand and contract like the wood around it does with temperature changes.
