Another questionable SG for sale here in Chile. There is a slight angling on the pickups or neck or Bigsby. Made in USA stamp and serial number look home made. What do you spy?

The Bigsby has been added later. The holes from the original stop bar are still there. Apart from that it all looks OK.

Serial nr says 2012 so that checks out. The rest looks fine too, you'll have to remove the pickups and backplate for further investigation. Other than that the only thing one can deduce from the pics is that someone installed the Bigsby blindfolded, which I personally would never recommend.

It's just possible that the Bigsby can be moved over to the right place without exposing the old mounting holes. I'm not familiar enough with it to say for certain though.

Yeah, I was going to check it out right before the quarantine and now it's just saved and it hasn't been sold yet. He is asking like $500.000, which is about 240.000 less than normal, so I was suspicious. There are a lot of guys here who try repaint an pass off copies as originals, especially Squiers to Fenders. Chilean websites are always selling Fender, Gibson sticker kits on how to do it. Well, thanks for your input. I'll take a look at it if If things are a bit more 'normal'. Ciao!

The headstock serial number stamping appears to be legit.

With the fakes, more often than not, they use a sans serif font on the numbers. When there are 1's in the serial number, that is the quickest way to determine.

I think that anyone good enough to create a convincing fake would also be good enough to put the Bigsby on straight. I'm totally convinced that this is a legit piece of butchery.

In my opinion it looks 'off' because they changed the pickup rings to that cream color, which doesn't fit the rest of the guitar's look and thus screams 'not right', and they removed the tailpiece (filling the holes) and put a bigsby on (no problem) but they installed it crooked (it looks like they aligned it with the bridge rather than the neck, so it's off-kilter). Everything else looks like SG standard to me.
