Played the 50 watt today. Awesome amp. Didn't even use the effects. I'd buy one just for the clean and crunch tones. Loved it!!!
It is a really good amp. Mine has impressed everyone that has tried it. You should have grabbed it when you had the chance! Evidently people are having trouble getting their hands on them. *cough* Sweetwater *cough* *cough*
You can add most of the retailers in the UK to that! All seem to be on backorder, glad I found mine when I did
Even the mighty Anderton's dot Co dot UK? In sunny Guildford? Apparently so! Availability: Preorder Next delivery due: Friday, 31 Mar 2017 https://www.andertons.co.uk/p/KTN50/combo-amps/boss-katana-ktn50-electric-guitar-amp-combo How about GAK? YES! In stock https://www.gak.co.uk/en/boss-ktn-50-1x12-katana-guitar-amp/900756 It seems I'm a bit of an Anglophile when it comes to my guitar sites..........
I'm trying to decide between the Kantana 50, or the more expensive route of buying a 1x12 cab with Celestion and slapping on an Orange Micro Dark Terror or similar. I know what my wallet is saying, just not sure what my heart is saying I've always wanted to get a really good speaker cabinet to have the ability to drop in whatever amp head I want. But damn, that Kantana has it's appeal!
I have to agree there. The quality (not to mention variety) of tones in the Katana are vastly better than the Orange Micros. Those are "hybrid" amps, not real tube amps, and not very versatile past that one Orange signature sound. The Katanas cover all your bases and have a much more flexible power section.
Not to mention you'd have a hard time plugging your USB cable in to your micro terror! "I think that usb will go in this port... hold on... Yes! - FZZZT! FOOMP!!..... .... okaaay, maybe not... "
I did say most.... Never had much faith in GAK - any company determined to undercut everyone isn't the type of company I want to deal with, and I try and avoid buying on the Internet wherever possible for new gear, much rather give my business to my local stores - the Internet boys aren't gonna give you a deal as readily as the shop you hang out in and build a relationship with. And try and get an Internet shop to agree to take part ex! </ rant>
The Orange Micro Terrors are indeed one trick ponies... I'm more interested in the idea of having a nice cab and maybe starting with one of the Micro Terrors, then later kicking it aside for something nicer like a Mojotone Studio One, or Suhr Corso. Who am I kidding though? Those little heads aren't cheap.. The Katana looks like a fantastic bang for the buck, and probably will go the Katana route
Errr O....K..... I've only seen videos so......yeah...... Awkward. Flexible and fun. They've come a long way since my little Envoy.
Not seen any over here DrB... Definitely looks interesting, but would still need a cab, and list for the amp alone is close to the Katana 50.... Do like the technology though, inventive!
Forget those one trick ponies. Where the **** did this thing go? I'd be interested in something like that. Mine either, which is why (steering the ship away from the beach and back into the canal) I'm glad the Katana worked out so well for me. Rest assured, I'd be blasting the thing left and right if I hated it.
A mini Mark V and a mini Recrifier? . That would be a killer rig man. You will be able to cover many grounds with either amp
Yeah...I actually ordered the Mini Rec just this morning, should be here...well, when it gets here I used to have a Single Rec Solo (50 watt) and I really miss that ripping canvas/air compressor sound that only a Rectifier can make. The cleans in the Mini are only OK, but the cleans in the Mark 5 are the best I have ever heard so I have that base covered, and the Mark does all the "classic" rock tones extremely well. The Mini is going to be just for when I need to bring the Metal!
