I want to change the back textured cover to the old model shiny black. Will it fit and do i get it from Gibson?

    I don't blame you.
Not a fan of the textured finish either.
I'd just make one, but I realize a lot of people don't have access to "my shed".
If you find that replacements are stupid money, message me. I can whip one out from your old one in no time.

Gibson started using these a while back for the cavity and switch covers - instead of the plain, gloss black...

+1 on the idea of making one.
I've made a number of guitar trim pieces from ebony headstock veneer. I do the cutting with a small, sharp hand saw, bevel the edges with a dremel tool, sand it down to 600 grit and finish it with tung oil... Ebony splits very easily, so cut carefully and with a good bench or table backing up the ebony piece.

At first I hated the textured back cover plastics that came with my 2014 LP studio, now I don't seem to mind them at all :)

    Just give some time.

I ordered a wide bevel pickguard and smooth rear cavity cover for my 2017 from Mojoaxe.com

I don't care for that pigskin textured cover either.

Thanks for your feedback. I have played it so much that I only looked at the cover. I am cool with it. Man what a guitar!

Hah! I worked pretty hard to get it to that point... it ain't glossy
smooth yet, but I like it too. I could rub and rub on it some more, and I know it would get more glossy, but I just decided to
declare victory. I wish to be done with this, therefore I am done.

I'm very fond of this 2012 SG, and couldn't wait to get her back
    together and play.
