    Hi
Glad to have found this resource. I've had a 69 special since the mid 70s. Case was a perfect fit but it shuffled off its mortal coil a few years back. I got a Gator case to replace it but it puts too much pressure on the neck for me.
Can anyone recommend a modern case that fits an old guitar snugly?
Added some pics to introduce my guitar :-) IMG_2845.JPG IMG_2846.JPG IMG_0601.JPG

I have a '67 Special that I keep in what i believe is a 90s era SG case and it fits really well. The original case doesn't provide much padding so I swapped it a while ago. I'll take a pic after work but from memory its black tolex, purple interior and 4 latches with no lock. I think it says Gibson Custom on the front. I'll post a pic shortly.

That's a great looking guitar you have there! Maybe just grab one of the newer Gibson brown cases that come with the current guitars? I have two and they fit great.

    Nice SG !
My first SG was a ‘69 SG Special.
    Those are my favorite.

    Get one those TKL cases.

I have a 68 special that i have in a Gibson Protector case aka chainsaw case. They are indestructable and fit very well. My 2004 SG came with a Ritter case. Dont know what happened to the Gibson case. Yorkville makes a case as good as the Gibson with a back latch but no combo lock.

I thought I was going to see the first post modern sg case here, but it turns out that's not really what it said...

I've been meaning to get pics of this case. Sorry for the delay. It's a Gibson case, 4 latch redish purple interior, fits my SG perfectly.

That's a case that went with a custom shop SG reissue. I have a 2006 VOS SG '61 reissue (but no trem so it's not really authentic, whatever) and it came in that exact case except it has three latches. I think they still use something very similar to this day. They are nice cases just because of how perfectly fitted they are to the SG bodies.
