25609312-103A-471A-AF98-FEDF0401D6AF.jpeg Being a faithful ales Paul addict through many years I started craving some p90 juicy goodness. Had my eyes on the 2018 Les Paul jr but no one in the shops around me. Some calling around with no result I complained to my neighbor, he told me that he had just played the most awesome sg jr in a shop an hour away.

I called the shop to make sure they still had it, jumped in the car, I hadn’t expected the life changing event that was about to happen. The guitar Is beautiful, very nice finish, 1,2 kg lighter than my les Paul’s and the most resonant and sustaining instrument I’ve ever played. There was no chance in hell that I would leave this guitar in the shop :)

The setup was perfect, intonation ok and the p90 has so large amount of sound and not very neck heavy.

The fretboard seems wider than my Les Pauls but she plays great. Definitely not my last sg.

HA HA HA ... resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.

Nice intro with an even nicer Jr, and welcome to the SG zoo.

    Welcome to ETSG!

Without doubt, Les Paul guitars are one of the world's best.
But only one of them. You have just found another.

The SG with P-90 sound is a classic, and has been used to make so many
excellent recordings over so many decades... it's good that you've caught
    on.

Lots of us play other guitars too, but many of us have a special place in our
hearts for the SG. An SG with hum buckers is also a classic tone, only slightly
different from the Les Paul tone, due to the placement of the bridge p'up.
There have been numerous posts on this subject, concerning the "difference"
between the two. My favorite one was posted on both MLP and this forum.
About half the members (on each forum) could correctly say which tone was which.
    Like flip a coin. *laughs

I believe that you found you SG in the correct way. Go where they sell them
and buy the one that comes alive in your hands. That's the way I found my first
one, and that humble SG faded special is still my favorite instrument, like ten
years later. Branded for life, I am.

A big congrats for your sweet and new SG...

What amp is that? Cuz, with that big fan and no back panels, that amp head must be running real hot... :D

An SG Junior with a single dog-ear P-90...

Wow. It doesn’t get much cooler than that!

To those of you asking to the amp. It’s based on the matchless hc with minor tweaks and improvements to the circuit made by one of Denmark’s best amp wizards. NR 2 out of 25 ever made, the Doobie brothers have one and Carlos Santana as well.

The transformers a real matchless transformers from the time they had a shutdown and had to sell their inventory. So parts wise you can’t build it much better. Tubes are Phillips nos in V1 brimar nos in v2&3 and a mullard ef86 in the preamp. Power tubes are jj’s and a sovtek gz34.

Cab is a jcm800 1936 all plywood with wgs reaper and invader running in 8 ohms

This amp is without a doubt the loudest 30 watt I’ve ever played :)

I play through the ef86 channel almost clean and the tone is to die for :)
