I am curious what compressor pedal VOX players are using. None of the stores near me have a Vox on the floor for me to test pedals through at the moment. Talk to me and shed some light for me please.

Can't really shed much light, since I haven't played many compressors, but I use an Analogman Comprossor for some of my slide playing. Sounds nice and smooth to me (and I play through an AC30).

I have a custom built AC-30 Top Boost clone, and I use the same pedal.

Cool! How do you think it compares to other compressors?

No clue, actually. I had a Ross compressor back in the early eighties. I loaned it to a co-worker, then he quit about a week later. Never saw him or the pedal again. I liked that pedal, that's why I bought the Analogman CompRossor. My bass player friend says it's a completely different animal than the Orange Sqeezer that you'd use for the signature country sounds. I know that it doesn't do country, but it does killer sustain.

Killer sustain, indeed! That's the reason I love it when I play slide.

MXR Dynacomp... auld style, but still does the job. simple controls,
use it for an excellent clean boost, killer sustain, it also evens out your
pick attack, so if you're sloppy like me and some of your notes are loud
and some are too quiet... this pedal will make your solos sound much
more defined and professional. Hard to beat for eighty bucks new.

my new one is a Red Witch "Grace" pedal. nice squish, but seems noisy
so it's not on my paddle board right now. Probably depends on the guitar.
or maybe the amp. I was using it with my Orange Micro Terror.
I'll give Grace another chance with the VT-30.
