I was looking at a 2001 Gothic SG online and the description says "very light fret wear" and includes pictures. When I look at the pics it sure looks like heavy fret wear to the point they look pretty flat. Are you seeing what I'm seeing?

That looks more like someone has done a fret level, but failed to crown the frets afterwards. Fret wear shows up as dents under each individual string.

I agree those frets may have been filed down, I don't think by much. They probably play fine the way they look.

Definitely looks like they were leveled, but not crowned. Though, sometimes Gibson's "Schoolbus" profile frets can be pretty dang flat on top.

Update... when I originally posted this thread I was not aware that Gibson’s, for the most part, have flatter frets compared to other guitars. When I saw the guitar pictured above I assumed that the flat frets we’re a result of wear, and frankly, was surprised by the responses that it’s not out the ordinary.

I’ll chalk this off as being new to Gibson.

    Thanks again.

Typical Gibson frets and it looks like an ebony fretboard... nice...

I didn’t buy that one but am still keeping an eye out for one. I’ll definately post some pics when I do.

Knowing what’s normal for Gibson frets opens some more doors for me now as I was discounting a guitar if the frets looked too worn.
