    Hi All,

I'm looking at a Gator case for my SG, the one specifically designed to fit the SG.

Was just wondering if anyone had one and if it was any good / does it protect the neck like a Gibson case does ?

    It looks like this:

    Thanks!

Yes. They work well. Really well IME. I prefer them to the SKJ cases.

Can't speak for the plastic one, but the wood one is great. I got it and it fits perfect. It only has one neck support (instead of two, like the Gibson OEM) but it compensates it somehow with a bit of extra padding in the headstock area. I recomend them

    (not my pic)

Yes they wil protect but also has the tendency of the shell corner cracking, Guitar inside wasn't ruined though.

I love my plastic Gator case. It's very light with no issues. For me, wood cases can start to chip. Also the vinyl can rip. The plastic one seems like it will last forever.

What do the Gibson cases usually go for?

Locally, they're upwards of €170 online, more in a regular store...

I have one of the plastic cases that came with my SG Classic and it worked well, until it got damaged in a basement flood. I sat it in front of a dehumidifier for a few days and it seems fine.

I also have one of these, and it fits ok. My sg moves around a bit in it, mostly around the body though.

Of the two, I prefer the fit of the plastic case, but prefer the materials and finish of the wood case.

Nice cases, as good as OEM in my opinion. I used to have one just like what's in your photo (sold that guitar). I have one of the wood ones now for a PRS Mira and it's very nice but the molded ones are nicer. The wood one also really stunk badly of glue when I first got it.
