I'm the new owner of an old (1989) SG called a "90 Double," which is a pretty strange guitar. It has a single-coil pickup slanted by the neck, and a regular double-coil humbucker by the bridge.

I was told this guitar was all original, but imagine my surprise when I removed the pickguard and discovered a pickup marked "W. Germany." The name seems to be "OBL" as you can see from the photo, and the pickup has an odd circuit board arrangement that I've seen on other pickups from 1980s Gibsons.

Not sure what the "450" means ...

What do you think? Is this the original pickup? Has it been replaced? And has anyone ever heard of OBL pickups from West Germany?

So many questions ... Sorry! ???

Yes Sir! I did... I also own this SG Double and Yes, in my early serial number (first year with percoid pickguard, not a black one) is also an OBL Pickup, model 450 L. So both, your's and one seem to be original Pickups. I don't believe that your and my SG D are the same guitar although I don't know how my one came to Germany. My serial number ends up with xxxxx516 - Greetings from Germany, Thomas
