handy online fret calculator

    this is WAY out there maybe, but input scale length and number of frets and calculation method and get your fret placement in inches or millimeters from the nut....

    That is really cool
    I took a tour of the Carruthers guitar factory in Venice CA and they had a version that was MS-DOS based in 1982.

    yeah I find this really handy.
    Not sure if it's the one I used before, but there's also an online calculator that will give you the scale in 16ths or 32nds, and one that will add a certain amount of "intonation compensation" or some crap (that Taylor uses on their guitars).
    If you're building your own fretboard, good luck getting the scale without using one of these things.

    Just make sure you measure your frets slots at right angles to the CENTER line, and not one of the fb's edges. woah, did I feel like a schmuck when I finally saw how off-angle those frets were.. d'oh
