    Good evening

I was looking for an epiphone sg on zzsounds website and i saw that there was an option for a blemished one 200$ less from the original price

After a chat with the support he told me that its only cosmetic and wonth effect the playilty of the guitar

So what do you guys think

The definition of "blemish" and "cosmetic" varies widely. Ask them to take a pic of the "blemish" and email it to you. Then you will know if you can live with it. If I could not get this, I would forget it.

I did asked him he said that "there is a lot of blemished stock but its only cosmetic for sure "

So that made me unsure about the guitar

In other words, he has no clue what the damage is, only that he has a lot of damaged merchandise. I would pass. I have read that ZZ Sounds has poor customer service. Leave this can of worms closed.

Sometime it works out OK, but you do need to know exactly what the blemish is. I once bought a new guitar at a heavy discount due to a blemish. I decided to sell it 2 years later & got exactly what I'd paid for it - normally it's tough to do that with a new guitar. :)

I've bought a few in person but unless I could see detailed pics of the actual blemish, I'd pass.

I was always afraid I'd get an axe with a huge chunk of wood missing, so I never tried it before. I'd sooner check the used section at guitar center (how I ended up with a Pelham blue epi sg with lyre vibrola without a single scratch) before I went with their blemish sales, but from personal experience their play now pay later plan seems to work really well.

Those things are amazing. :) They also go out of stock about a day after they show up.

UHM....I disagree with the distinguished gentleman in post 2.

I have bought a CRAP LOAD of "b" stock----hell half must stuff is "B" stock----amps....guitars......pedals.....you name it.

Here is an example of a "B" stock story for you
    I got this-----from musicians friend ----
    jag.jpg
for 169.00 YES---- DELIVERED for 169.00...........after some "issues"
    O.K. short story long------
I bought a Squire Jazzmaster.....it was delivered (B stock) and had fretts that where flaking---
I complained they sent a call tag ---and sent me a another one...... that one had a bad 3 way switch.......so I called and asked if they could send me a switch----they said "no" "but we will send a call tag and you can -----oops we dont have any more Jazzmasters.....would you take a JAGUAR????" ---my answer HELLS YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have bought many B stocks from Rondo.....from GC from Sweetwater......Sam Ash......

IF you do not expect to much---AND they offer a return policy (which ZZsounds does) you are probably going to come out ahead....

    I always have------
    I mean recently I TRADED a "B" stock Agile
    for under 200.00
for this PRS Santana ---which sell for considerably MORE than the $ I laid out for the Agile...........

You sir are the king of swapping, buying cheap and generally making out like a bandit on all your deals. You put the F into Frugal!

Thanks guys the problem with returning the guitar (if there was something wrong with it) is that in the end im going to pay the 200$ that was off the original price on shipping fees for because im dealing with shipping company based in NY and the handle the shipping better than the local mail and bring the shipment faster for example i remember ordering a sqiuer jaguar it cost me around 70$ for the shipping now i imagne that the epiphone is heavier than the jaq so it might be more than but lets say 70$ for three times thats 210$

While I dare not question my frugal mentor, I would contend that "B Stock" is different from "Blemished", especially from ZZsounds. I take B stock to mean a minor flaw during the manufacturing process. My Peavey Classic 50 is B stock and I am yet to find a flaw. However, I take a blemish from ZZsounds to mean bought, damaged and returned, damaged during shipping and returned, or abused in the warehouse. That is a dangerous game to play.

I have two blems purchased from musicians friend. One had a dull spot in the finish on the back. Polished out with Virtuoso cleaner, looks mint. I am still looking for the flaw in my Epi Les Paul custom. Other than a little dried jeweler's polish on the frets, I have found no cosmetic flaws. I think they can be great bargains.

A blemish wouldn't scare me off. But, as has already been suggested, insist that they send you good pics of the blemish.
