Hello from Antwerp, Belgium! Decided to join here for obvious reasons! :)

I've been playing rock, blues and soul music for over 20 years now, mostly tought myself to play and still loving it. I'm currently in a rock band that is supposed to be doing gigs by april.

    My SG story:
I always pictured myself as a Fender user, but then I bought a '70s tribute SG to see what the fuss was about, and started doubting: the SG and the Vox I use are like a match made in heaven and I realised: that is the sound I always wanted! The SG really grew on me, but there's always something I wanted more for the band, like a new amp or some other stuff. So I sold it...
Things just weren't the same after that. I started upgrading one of my guitars, the only one with humbuckers, to get a similar sound. It's a nice guitar now, but it was still an attempt to replace the SG. For 6 months I've been looking for a good deal on a nice SG and finally I got one! I wanted to trade a 800 euro amplifier for an SG Standard and I was willing to pay some extra if necessary. This guy contacted me to trade his 1350 euro SG for my amp, meaning I needed to pay a LOT of extra cash, too much for me. So I made an offer which was way too low for that guitar. To my big surprise, the guy called me back the next day to tell me he was ok with my offer! Couldn't believe it!!
So now I'm back in the SG game and I'm here to stay! The guitar I scored Is a brand new Derek Trucks signature!!!

    Welcome to ETSG!

The Derek Trucks Signature is a very nice guitar indeed! And through av Vox you are definitely set to go! I have a 2014 edition. I have modded it with a pickguard and a set of Throbak PG-102 pickups, but I love the 57' Classics a lot so I kept them and put them in a different SG that I use for slide. I play it through an AC30 in my blues band. Love the rig to bits.

Add witch hats and the DT models are about perfect, imo.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'll be doing a fotoshoot of the DT SG later and post a small review. Just for fun! :naughty:

Yes, welcome to ETSG, and congratulations on getting one of the best guitars Gibson makes.

The SG with '57 classic pickups seems to be an excellent combination.
I bought a less expensive SG first, and later upgraded mine to this.

Mine sounds great through a Vox also, I use a VT-30 modeling amp that has lots
of models I'll never use, but it has two or three settings that do everything I ask.

The SG and Vox combination is really useful IMHO, but lately I've been playing
through an Orange Micro Terror, which is kind of like the opposite of a modeling
amp. It's plain and simple, 20W of power with a 12AX7 tube, so it's kind of
a hybrid, like the VT-30. But no models, no f/x, so you shape your tone before
the amp. It runs any cab I plug it into, or any pair, and it looks like a toy, but
it is definitely NOT a toy. This rig will rattle the windows:

I use a smaller setup for practice downstairs.
Or the Blackheart Little Giant which I also really like. That amp is only
five watts, but mike it and it sounds HUGE...

Thanks for posting your story. I will look forward to reading your review of
your DT SG. I am a fan of Derek Trucks, and would love to have an SG like
yours. So of course we'd like to see some photos. We have an unwritten rule
