I tightened up the tuners and now it stays in tune for a long time. The sound is great and even though I'll be adding more guitars to my collection in the future, I'll always love this guitar.

image.jpg I've got 3 SG's now. My first was my Special, I have a 2014 G-400 and an Austin SG copy. The Special is still my favorite.

Does anyone not love Epi SGs? Hundreds of posts on them and everyone loves 'em. It's only the Gibbos we bitch about lol.

Glad you got yours sorted out!

I don't think so. Everyone loves them. Gibson cork sniffers who say they don't love the Epiphones are closet Epiphone lovers, too.

I personally think the LP Special II is one of the best guitar-for-money propositions ever. I've played one - bone-stock - live before, with great tone and great playability. I doubt the SG Special is any less of a guitar.

I think the new Specials are selling for 180 instead of 100 like they used to, and I frankly think it's a good thing - no one seems to take sub-$150 guitars very seriously, but my Special II was as serious as a heart attack. :D

If it's anything near the P90 Special 1, it's fabulous. Mine is one that I'll never let go.

Humbuckers don't have near the class as P90's, but its a fantastic guitar anyway!

I've been wondering about those. I think my next guitar will be a project guitar to hack up and learn more advanced guitar modding on, and I've been trying to decide between the Junior and the Special I... I like the concept of a one-pickup guitar, but I saw the worn cherry Special I not long ago and the thing looked phenomenal. Much better wood grain than I expected... Would probably look great with some upgraded hardware and electronics.

I still have the same electronics in mine except for the pickups. After 4 years, there is still no problem.
For pickups, I had some P90S from a 2014 Gibson MM in it for a while, then a pair of Tyson Tone Wraptail '57. Those are in there to stay.
Changed the tuners of course, for the cheapest Kluson style I could find, $17.99

A take I did on a small Fender Princeton 65DSP, just after putting the Wraptails in there.

They look the part, nobody that's seen the guitar up close has even noticed.
