A month and 3 weeks ago I had to pay rent. The landlord doesn't care if I play guitar! Well I was short $250.00 and put Helana Handbasket (my 2003 Special Faded) in the pawn shop. I gave them the original pickguard, poker chip and battered 490 bridge pickup in the deal and left very sad. I have a 2014 Dirty Fingers installed in the bridge so if I lose her I'm also out 2 Gibson bridge pickups!
Well I thankfully worked hard this month and got paid in a timely fashion for my work and now have my #1 guitar back in my hands. Not to mention I owed the fellow I was working for $200.00 and when I came back from the bank and pawn shop and paid him the $200.00 he gave me $100.00 back and said "Merry Christmas Bro! You've helped me out big time!"
    BIG SIGH of relief!
I feel as though I can still be a viable contributor to ETSG! And it's like a HNOGD (happy new old guitar day) for me.
    Man.... I've missed you Helena!

DUDE! THAT IS AWESOMENESS on a CRACKER with friggin CHEEZ WHIZ!
Congratulations. I think HNOGD is probably BETTER than HNGD......I mean HNGD might end in " I hate this piece of SH**!!" or "WHY did spend so much on this crap?" WHere as......HNOGD is like the one you love returning home after a long absence.

Well done Shreddy !!!! ROCK ON!

Damn Shreddy. All these NGD posts flying around and you suffering silently with poor ol' Helana in the pokey. Glad you got her out man. Happy NOGD. I feel a group sigh of relief bubbling up here.

When I get elected dictator of N.America, I'm gonna make guitars people and qualify them for government assistance. Hell, if you'd put a flag from any third world country on her and sail her under the Lions Gate Bridge they'd give her rent and a bus pass, right?:naughty:
Congrats, man. I haven't had to do that for a while, but I remember the feeling.

Thanks WavMixer... being self employed is a tough gig! But I shall overcome!
You folks may think me weird but I just gave her a big wet kiss on the headstock and a big hug!
Sorry to anthropomorphasize (is that the correct spelling???):)
    Probably not but who cares!

That's the best kind of holiday story.

    Call it Santa's Dirty Fingers?

    Maybe not.

    Shreddy's Happy Reunion -- that's it.

Great to hear you got your guitar back. I've had my share of hard times as I'm sure many other here have. Couldn't be happier for you. It will probably play a bit sweeter and sound even better. Rock On!

I have a full time day gig... but can't make it on that alone. I HAVE to work a second job from home building web sites just to keep the bills paid. Every month i ask myself will this be the month I can't make the bills? Now go wipe the slobber of of your guitar now that your done with the foreplay. :thumb:

If your guitar hasn't been in a pawn shop, you can't play the blues. We've all been there, just glad you got yours back!!

yes'n don't forget one little fact:
You, yourself sir, are a valid contributor on these boards whether you
actually own an SG or not. Never forget that. You can get another guitar,
but you can't buy or sell your membership in this brotherhood.

There's a lot of sympathy percolating around here, and I'm glad to see it.
Lots of us are living close to the bone, and the shadow of The Man in the
alley or the Wolf at the door is no stranger, as you can see by these posts.

I'm very glad you got your old six string companion back, and hate the idea
that you'd have to deal with a pawn broker over her. IMHO, the best way to
deal with pawn brokers is with money in your pocket, so that THEY want what
YOU have... and you can check out the guitars on the rack and act like a cork
sniffer. "Nah, a bit too much belt rash on this one... I'll offer a hundred. Cash...
Right now. Love it or shove it."
