Another positive real life review for the .. reliable .. Vibrola Tremolo system.

Boy, my ultimate goal in life has been achieved!!!

And while you contemplate whether my latest statement is 'sarcasm or not',.. I will give a hint concerning the first one... YOU said it stayed in tune right!?

Now I could understand you contemplating sarcasm on this one I posted earlier in response to BettyBoo & skelt (what is a skelt anyway, a fish?? Catch any skelt today Jim? No Bob, I got skunked! Skunked on the skelt!. I Shoulda stayed home & skated on the skelt Bob, instead of getting skunked!) [sorry skelt]

    ""Bettyboo said:
Wow. That's a lovely looking tele! The Vox and SG look amazing too.
    skelt101 said:
Hey Bettyboo, don't knock the Tele! It might not be as pretty as the Tweedy, but that thing has TONE!!!""

Too which I posted with hidden sarcasm...
"What a lovely Tele is understandably confusing so, don't worry about it. LOL"

Well you caught me UHFR. I've been working on masking obvious sarcasm & trying to perfect the 'ambiguously sarcastic response technique'. I'm picking up points from my British friends!

Was that ambiguously sarcastic?? Or genuine commentary??

    Boy, I am getting good!

The collection above is the way to go. You have humbuckers, mini hums and P-90’s. I like the ebony satin SG Special out of the bunch. Got one just like it with a few mods on the plastics.

If I recall right, the Tweedy was released at the same time as the original Derek Trucks. I got a Trucks and remember the Tweedy on the rack at the same time as well. If both started as "limited editions" and only the Trucks remains in production, it's popularity may speak to why the Trucks is still around. It is a nice looking SG. Good information in this thread.

I think you'll find the Trucks was last in production in 2015 - and the model on Gibson's web site is certainly from that year. It also still shows the bumped up 2015 prices of £2,399 (although I saw them being cleared out at big discounts about a year ago). That was a lot of money for a Standard with a vibrola cover, but 2015 prices were a bit crazy. Compare that to $1,499 for the Kirk Douglas of 2013, effectively an SG Custom, at less than Standard prices, or this year's Gary Clark Jr, a Standard with three P90s for $1,499.

Thanks. I didn't realize that. I do know they "updated" it at some point because they added his signature on the truss rod cover. My 2012 model did not have it. But....I added a "Les Paul" truss rod cover and put a single wing pickguard on it......
