[IMG] [IMG] Back in 2011 I went to GC in search for an SG with P90s. Since I have acquired a few guitars over the years, was just looking for THAT guitar. Since I'm older than dirt, I have owned and played some great guitars over the years and have learned you have to play everything so you can find the sweet one for you. So I played a Special with P90s. Wasn't really impressed at all with it. Just a feeling I got. Just for the heck of it picked up a Black SG Standard. Still had the pickguard plastic and stickers on it. Tuned it up and started playing. Different chords all over the neck. What got my attention was every note was clear and rung out perfectly. Then I plugged it into the same Fender amp that I gig with. Done deal. It became my #1 and I retired playing pro in 2013. Didn't play it or my other guitars much until my old band asked to reform last year. So I restrung my 4 favorite guitars. The SG won, I took it to our first practice and it sounded amazing. This guitar has been the best decision I ever purchased. It was worth going into the dog house with my wife for a week for yet another guitar.

Congrats on your SG. Sounds like you got a real special one. Unfortunately, I only see one pic of it... hint hint

She looks like she's been well cared for over the years.

Thanks everyone. It does have some small battle scars, but don't mind.

Nice! I put those tuners on my Les Paul. Really like them.

Battle scars are cool, especially when they all belong to you. :)

And Black with a Bat is one of my favourite SG looks. I've got a '16 Standard:

No battle scars yet, but then I haven't gigged since the 80s!

I liked the speed knobs on my Les Paul so much, they had to go on the SG.

great story... the older I get, the more I appreciate everything.
every gig is a gift... or even every practice when you get great guitars out
and wind them up. And there' something about a black SG...
