Bought it new in 1979 so I'm pretty sure the Honeymoon is over. If they had made it with an Ebony or Titanium fingerboard and SS frets, I'd be more happy, but such is life......

Probably the best option to choose on a guitar would be that it is made with a well fitted neck joint. I think that the rocker nickname was derogatory and was used to describe a LP with a poorly fitted neck joint.

Not blaming you Biddlin. It's the source image that baffles me.

That image has been around forever. It was made by someone who wanted to prove a point, methinks.

Here's what the current Gibson USA tenon looks like:

Of course, the tenons have changed over the years and people make all sorts of claims about them, but I have never had a neck fall off my guitar, and that's all I care about.

Well I had a neck fall off. It was on a bolt neck Framus acoustic. I have only had 1 SG, so at least on mine nope the neck is still on it although the paint on the glue lines did crack when I dropped it many years ago.

About the first 10 years I owned it (the SG) I was always wondering how I could fix it's "shortcoming" and out of desperation I started playing more and damn, I figured I would probably never play to it's full potential anyway so I quit worrying about "fixing" it.
