Im ready to buy a 2013 SG Les Paul Custom in Pelham Blue with the Vibrola for $400. Is this a decent model/year? I cant seem to find much info on them other that they're made in China. Should I hold out for a MIJ or MIK one? Im confused...(:

If it feels good, sounds good, plays good and looks good - it's good. Whether it's worth 400 or not is up to you.

whether it's worth it or not is your choice to make:
based on how the guitar is equipped, and what tone you need
for the music you intend to play.

In my experience, used Epiphones don't hold value well.
What does that mean? It means that if you've got $400 to spend, you have a
lot of choices. Plenty of decent Epi guitars don't cost so much.
So for $400 you could get a less fancy instrument, and have some money
to spend on setup and a good case. OR you could spend the four hundred on the
guitar you mention, and then spend more on setup and a good case.
    Your choice.

IMHO, a well setup G-400 in a good quality case is a much more useful instrument
than a higher pedigree guitar that hasn't had any luthier attention. Epiphones respond
very well to setup (and upgrades). And all guitars need this... expensive ones too.

Good luck in this. And once you decide what you want, let's see some pictures.

What Von Trapp said. IF you like it, and you feel 400 is a fair price, get it. If not, talk them down a bit. But ONLY if you like it.

That is a real limited special run. They don't come up often.
    Probuckers are also a plus.

I say yes, $400 is OK if it tickles your fancy. It's a beautiful SG.

I've never seen a faded or whatever the heck they call it that doesn't look as if they were too lazy or cheap to grainfill and clearcoat properly but I have to say, that thing up there kicks ass with that finish! (or non finish)

The only bummer with those is the lack of pore filler in the finish. And that is a very small small small thing.

I generally hate Pelham blue guitars but the faded finish is far more palatable to my taste than the gaudy gloss ones I have seen. I quite nearly bought a faded Pelham Les Paul a couple of years ago. If the pores bothered me, I'd get a good polish and go to work minimizing them.

I actually like Pelham Blue AND Burgandy Mist, but that vibrola is useless, it looks cool though, but that is why you see so many with the 3 dots behind the bridge :-)...
