Took the guitar out of it's case today to show my nephew and found that the bridge pickup cover has a cracked solder joint making a horrible buzzing noise. Now I'll have to take off the strings to get at the bugger. Damn, I hate soldering - especially when it doesn't want to stick! >:(

You guys who make guitars and refinish them are amazing. It takes some cajones to do what you do.

It definitely does :coolsmiley:! You guys are the best!

And the finished article in all its glory.

Now that it's finished should I start another? ;D ;D

    Magnificent!
    Can I have it? :)
    I'll send you my address......

    (yeah, right)

All kidding aside, you did a beautiful job there and I especially enjoyed seeing the guitar come together step by step in this post.
John had a huge influence on me and it's nice to know that he is so well remembered by others too.

Java brought his "Cipollina" to Madame Brew's party, at my house, last year.. and let me tell you these pics don't come close to doing it justice. Everyone that saw it was totally blown away by it. Magnificent!

Plus: not only does it look stunning, it plays and sounds superb too!

I hope the next time I'm over to visit, I get a chance to play this. I have been in love with this guitar since the first days of this thread.

Last month, I had the pleasure of visiting Java in beautiful County Clare. This guitar is beyond amazing, and pictures do no justice what so ever. I got to plug it in to the JTM45 that Java made. It is a really great sounding, very responsive guitar. I had smile on my face all weekend, even when we weren't enjoying pints of Guinness.

Holy crap. Nice work. It's more fancy than I would ever need....but I LOVE the binding on the body!

    Brilliant.

While browsing the internet for images of John Cipollina's SG I came across an image that led me to this.

John Cipollina Gibson SG Guitar price:$435 - Electric Guitars for sale

Being even more curious I had a closer look at the page and enlarged the image. $500 may get you a Cipollina replica from China (of what quality?) but the picture they show is actually of mine!

Should I send them a "cease and desist" email and threaten to sue the bastards? :hmm:

Hell they should at least have to pay you to use your picture!
We had a former employee who moved to the Northern part of the state and started his own 1 man screen printing shop.....only problem was his website had multiple examples of shirts......WE designed and printed, not him. HE got a letter, from our attorney.....the "examples of his work" are no longer on the site,.

I'd harass them if I were you. It's easy to point out the Irish 5p coins, and your workmanship. The coins were the first thing that I noticed.

*edit* I left a user comment. Let's see if it actually gets posted.

It's still there. Maybe it's just blocked in your part of the world Alex. :dunno:

Anyway, I sent them an email saying that I recognise my own guitar, that they are using the image without my consent and that I want it removed immediately. I also said I've sent a copy of the email to my lawyers. We'll see what happens.

Just found this image on google.

It's no longer my guitar they are using. To me it looks like a shabby, cheap copy of my copy.

I do suspect that they have used many of my images from this site to get the inlay and pickguard shapes. Slimy bastards!
