I originally got a Joyo Ultimate Drive, thinking it was versatile enough to get a low distortion crunch. But even with the knob all the way down, it was still too much. That thing IS a distortion pedal. What I need is a mellow overdrive.

I just sold it and got a Sweet Baby Overdrive. Now we're talking ! As the name says, it give a sweet overdrive, mellow even at max drive settings when the tone (Focus) knob is down to minimum. I really like this one, almost better than the Tube Screamer, as it doesn't color your tone. When combined to the amp gain, it can go real wild and bright with gradually pushing the Focus knob. No shrillness in that little pink box though. Love it.

This is good to know as I've had the same thoughts regarding the Ultimate drive.

I have the vintage, and I like it, but I think I prefer the Ultimate, but that's going the opposite direction you were looking for.

I have the US Dream, (don't like it) which is even a step further and I think is classified as a distortion pedal.

So it sounds like the vintage might be in between the ultimate and sweet.

So how does the sweet baby compare to rolling from 7 to 10 on the tone knob?

I couldn't really tell, I never go there. I mostly keep the tone knob down and tweak the amp EQ and guitar tone knob. Gets me where I want to be.

I have the ultimate drive, not my fav. I don't sell cheap pedals, I just hoard them (with my expensive pedals)
