New to me... 1976 SG Standard. Came equipped with Motor City Blackbelt pickups that sound AWESOME! Tone knobs were not hooked up but I replaced the pots and changed strings then a quick setup for my playing. I love it so far. Great trade for my MJT Parts strat I built...Can't complain!

Thanks... And I've been getting a lot of comments on that haha. I got the idea somewhere else so I didn't realize it wasn't super common. Helps when you adjust and wanna get back to that tone that works everytime

Why does the bridge look dead straight/parallel with the bridge pup? Was that common for that era of SGs?
    Beautiful SG BTW!!

Yes, because these originally came with a Harmonica bridge, which was set parallel because it has such a wide tuning range.

I’ve never had or used a guitar with that bridge, but more guitars should come with it these days. If you get more intonation travel distance.

People reacted pretty negatively to it's looks back in the '70s. And nowadays we have more precision capability in placing the bridge. However, if you do have a guitar that needs more travel, it might be an option, if it could fit.

Doubt it would fit considering that the bridge studs are usually angled.

I'm actually planning on replacing the stock bridge with a tuneomatic and plugging the original holes. I wouldn't do this if I had the stock bridge, however it didn't come with it and they are getting kinda pricey.

Possibly an ABR1 but I'm not positive yet

What’s wrong with the bridge that’s on it? ABR-1 wouldn’t be a good option as they don’t have much intonation room.
