Les Paul Special TV Yellow (2019)

I finally got me a proper TV Yellow guitar today. This one has always been my favorite Les Paul model and was previously only available as either an original from the 1950's or as a Custom Shop reissue. I am so stoked that they finally released a regular production model with this finish. This is the only Les Paul that I will ever need.

Not to worry, the SG is still my all-time favorite guitar.

Congrats on your new guitar! The TV Yellow color is a nice compliment to your other guitars.

Great guitar. Congrats! Now play some Hubert Sumlin! (His was a Goldtop Standard though, but the double P90s are begging for some Howling' Wolf action!)

    Very nice.

What' s the difference betwreen this model and a Custom shop? They look very close.

Some of the differences between the Custom Shop and this regular production model on the specs sheets include VOS finish vs Gloss, PIO caps vs Orange Drops, Pearloid vs Acrylic Dots, Vintage Tuners vs Modern Tuners, Indian Rosewood vs Rosewood, Custom Soap Bar P-90's vs P-90's.

While some of these differences may be important to some folks, I could not be any happier with this regular production model. It has the features that matter the most to me which are vintage 50's neck profile, P-90's, wraparound bridge, translucent TV Yellow finish.

The wraparound ... is it intonated in some way or just a straight bar ?

I didn't know Gibson has a Custom Shop version of their own P90. Interesting... :hmm:. I like the stock P90s of my '11 SG, even though there's a set of Wolfetone P90s on that SG now.

Since we're both fans of the Kinman's, is there a future with those in that sweet and new LP of yours?

I did see the spec sheets for Custom Shop P-90’s but not sure what could be different about them. I do like the stock P-90’s, but a Kinman zero-hum at the bridge down the road is not out of the question.

Plan is to leave it stock for now and get more familiar with the guitar first.

That new guitar smell! Have not purchased a new one since 2006.
