I've had or still have a couple Classics and a Traditional but have never owned a Standard. Found this yesterday. Early '89. 3 piece top. Bill Lawrence designed humbuckers. 10lbs 6oz and it sounds incredible.

I like a plain top, beauty.

    10lbs 6oz ? That's colossal !

Thanks for the kind words. As far as I can tell there's no weight relief. The Classics I've had with weight relief but without chambering have been in the 9+ pound range but never 10lbs. From what I gather at some point in '89 they went to a 2 piece top and lost a couple pounds so I'm guessing that was the beginning of the weight relief. Not sure if that's a fact but I've checked the specs on quite a few and around May or June of '89 they made the change.
Also pretty sure the gold speed knobs are original. Is that just a preference thing?

Curious ... how does a two piece top differ in weight with a one piece ?

Yeah the gold knobs are definitely a preference thing. Lots of people love them to go with natural/woody looking tops.

I think they are awful ha ha but that's just me. One option is getting a set of aluminum looking knobs whether those are the HP looking ones or others. But if it doesn't bother you more power to you it's a gorgeous guitar.

My 2016 Tribute HP Studio is massive but yeah I think it is still under 10 pounds.

Very nice condition heavy Norlin area Les Paul . Is it the stock finish?

Stock finish. Vintage sunburst. Looks better in photos. Usual wear and slight checking on the headstock when seen in person.

Gotcha. I'll pass on aluminum knobs. I can't imagine a more traditional look than gold knobs whether speed knobs or witch hat on a sunburst Les Paul.

Oh gotcha... Yea 2 different changes occuring at the same time. Didn't mean one caused the other. I'm guessing it was the start of the 9 hole weight relief or something similar.

Funny they went with only those 9 little holes. Probably golfers ...
