So this happened, unplanned. Used, but as new (still plastic on pickguard) SG Special in Vintage Sparkling Burgundy. The color goes from fire red to burgundy depending on light, fine metallic flake. Plays and sounds great. I need to oil that fretboard, it's dry as bone.

Thanks man! I will be tweaking it a bit later today (pickup height, action, oil the fretboard etc.), but looks like it will be a keeper.

So I oiled the fretboard late last night, and it darkened beautifully. It was very dry! I might want to give it month or so, and give it another thin application of oil.

Lowered the pickups and action (I think both can go a smidge lower) and opened the control cavity just to see it it's a pcb board or old school wiring.

Some devilish shots (apparently forgot to take the plastic off the pickguard):

I have this same model and color, got it about three weeks ago and am in love with it! Happy NGD, you got yourself a keeper there! Looks great since you oiled the board!

What are your thoughts on the stock p90s after lowering them? I lowered mine as well....and there is no way I'm getting rid of them. They sound ridiculously good. Like, "I can't imagine any aftermarket p90 sounding better" kind of good.

    Welcome to ESG DustyMike!

I love Gibson P90s. I have several other Gibson guitars equipped with P90s all stock Gibson pickups, and love them all. They are different enough for me to keep them all, for now anyway. This is my first SG with P90s, and I love it.

You should post some photos of your SG, there's a bunch of cool people here that would enjoy them, and welcome you to the forum.

I love that SG Special. It has a real vintage look with the wraparound tailpiece, p-90s and the binding on the neck. Would look like it came right out of the early '60s if they just added a couple of holes to simulate where someone removed a tremolo! Very nice! Love the SG Standard too.

    Welcome to ETSG...

You've got the best of it all IMHO... One SG with P-90s, and one with Humbuckers.
That covers a lot of tonal ground, and gives you a wide palette of SG goodness.
