Picked up a new SG, a 2015 Special, and am totally blown away on how good it sounds. It has the 61 Zebra pickups. I've head talk of these possibly being the same '61 pickups that are in the 2018 Standards and the 2019 61, but without the covers. I don't think so. They just sound so different. According to Gibson's website, both neck and bridge pups are on this are identical. So I'm guessing '61s designated '61R and '61T are different from each other?? I like the '14/15 Zebras more, lol.

This thing plays beautifully and just feels great. I picked it up for resale, but I think I'm gonna keep it... at least for a while. ;)

Oh and I like the MOP dot inlays! :D

    Nice!

The Gibson site has the pickups listed as...

    2015 SG Special
    Neck: 61 Zebra
    Bridge: 61 Zebra

    2018 SG Standard
    Neck: 61R
    Bridge: 61T

    2019 SG Standard '61
    Neck: Burstbucker 61R
    Bridge: Burstbucker 61T

Pictured below is the 61 Zebra found in a 2016 Les Paul CM that I used to have.

With the 490T / 490R combo found on other SG Specials, the bridge pickup has wider pole spacing than the neck pickup and the bridge pickup is slightly hotter than the neck pickup. Perhaps the 61T / 61R combo is configured the same way.

Maybe check the labels on the backside of the pickups next time you do a string change to see if one reads "Lead 61" and the other "Rhythm 61".

That is an incredible find. If you have to ask, you can't afford it...

Yeah, I was going by what they have on thier spec page for the guitar. Wasn't sure what I was looking at, other than distance the distance from the nut, I thought they looked identical, lol

That link and screen capture is for the 2015 SG Standard. It shows 57 Classics.

From looking at the photo of your 61 Zebra combo, they appear to be identical to each other because of the pole screw spacing on the bridge and neck pickups. In addition, the spec sheet has the same DCR listed for both pickups.

Pictured below are 490R and 490T. Note the pole screw spacing is different between the two pickups so that the strings line up over the pole screws. The outer pole screws are closer to the outer edge of the pickup cover on the 490T (bridge position).

I don't like the auto tune and I don't like the Les Paul 100 or whatever it says on the head so not for me.
