Gibson SG Original. It finally arrived!

She's a beauty, both aesthetically and in playability. I was a little surprised on the neck though, and in a good way. It has a little more beef to it than a '61 RI, but not quite like 2005 or 2016 Standard. A real sweet spot for me (although I like 'em all :D ).

Here's some picks, not my normal full gauntlet, but a few to get a look at the new beast.

    Congrats!
    That finish looks outstanding.
I really like that translucent dark cherry with the grain visible through the color.

    Thanks guys! I'm pretty stoked!

I know it won't last, but I literally can not find a flaw on this finish!

I've been looking at the Original for quite some time...I'm turning a pale shade of green now. The most beautiful guitar ever made.

By the way, what head is on top of that full stack? And do you actually play through it inside the house?

That RockCrusher is probably everyone in the neighborhood's friend! And 50 watts of Bassman sweetness, too. I am in awe of your gear.

By the way, I've read that the string break angle across the bridge is pretty shallow on these Vibrola guitars. Meaning you can't lower the action much. I like low action. Would this be a problem for me, do you think?

Awesome, congratulations!! That's a 2013 or a current model? The bevels and finish look gorgeous on yours

Not sure, the Vibrola's a new gig for me, and I haven't set this one up yet. But what little I've played with it so far, it seems to have actually come setup on the low side.

And to those that have asked, yes it's a 2013 . Unfortunately I have yet to buy a 2019 Gibby. Guess we'll wait and see what happens in 4 days with their new releases. Hope at the very least the SG Standards ship with a factory hardcase! ;)

I have looked all over the usual sites, and you may have snagged the only '13 Original out there! Hope you got a good price.

Oh, and if anyone's interested, there is a "dent and scratch" Original 2 on AMS's website for $1362, which is a $638 drop from the regular price. They got a free 45-day return policy, too!
