Hello all. I have an older SG Junior. Love to be able to tune this to open E. I've heard horror stories about the weaknesses of the SG neck. Would tuning in open E put any unreasonable or detrimental stress on my little Jr's neck?

Should I consider open D with capo on 2nd?

    ( String will probably be 10's or 11's. )

    Thanks for your time.

I've had my Jr in open E with 10's lots of times. When these guitars were made 10's didn't even exist.
Oh, i see you have a '66 you should have no problem. Mine's a '61 and really flimsy.
