I'm not sure I want to get rid of my Orange, but at the same time, I've never played a vintage Marshall, and there will always be plenty of Oranges, and for the music I play, that sound would certainly stand me in good stead.

What can you guys tell me about '77 JMPs? The seller's details are a bit vague, and it seems that a lot of the ones Google is showing me have the more modern-style switches. Is it possible this amp is actually earlier?

The seller says this amp has EL 34s as opposed to 6550s

    Thanks

those older marshalls can sound great but so does the rockerverb so I'd say its win/win. Either one is good. If you trade, just make sure you test out the marshall ahead of time to make sure it works properly at low and high volumes.

He says he's got one guy coming to check it out tonight who wants to buy it outright, but if he passes, I'm going to check it out tomorrow night.

I wish there was some way I could have both ;D

I'm getting the impression you guys are trying to tell me something...besides the fact that Weas has too many amps.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I know some clubs around Dallas where the sound engineer would do something like that.

I agree with everything you stated. I have an early 80's vertical input JCM800 (2204), which is essentially a JMP with exterior cosmetic changes, and if you are looking for that tone, well, it's the real deal.

Being from Canada, it has EL34s to boot! Authentic "British Marshall tone". (AFAIK, the U.S. bound JMPs came with 6550s).
