What's your opinion on this brand?

I was intrigued by this guitar for example

Seems to be a decent with a really cheap price, although some people say that it won't stay in tune well, other say that these benton guitars are better than epiphone's.

No experience with them myself, but they are apparently nice for the money. Probably good mod platforms

    I was thinking the same.

I have loads of bits left over from my upgrading of Betty, so I think I'm gonna pick up a $130 cherry SG to leave at the studio. Or maybe one of these for $160:

It's not a lot of money to spend for a studio thrasher, and my SG parts bin will all work on her too.

this one seems to be turning some heads. mahogany body (most hb's are basswood), classic lp shape vs the newer sc-550s with the different contours. i think they are discontinuing this model though, so act fast~$175 won't hurt much if it gets good qc and arrives intact..

I'm also quite liking this for 109 euro, has a celestion 30 in it. I can whack me baby Randall into it, and maybe an Orange micro terror to be ordered too...

That'd be a micro terror, 1x12 cab and a decent (I hope) guitar for about 450 euro delivered... Hmmm...

Same builder as my Jay Turser, same headstock logo design. I love my JT50 and would get another JT in a flash. Thick neck on mine, well done binding and great pick ups. The only thing I might change are the pots, they're a bit loose inside. I had a nice Korean G400 and this one easily replaces it, better built. Not that the G400 was not good. but this one is better.
So yeah, I'd say jump on it.

yeah i was wondering how they'd compare to a jay turser since they look so similar. might save you the shipping worries to go that route instead. i had a jt lp for a little while that was pretty nice - good fit and finish.

There was a feeding frenzy over at the Agile forum for HB guitars, might be worth reading some of those NGD threads before spending your money.

indeed. driven mostly by price thanks to the weak euro. some seem very happy with their purchases, but some have sent theirs back due to bad qc/workmanship. and there's always the risk of shipping damage.

you get what you pay for

those v30 cabs do seem like a really good deal tho...

Bought this one.....the thick neck was not my "thing" but the guitar quality....build fit finish and sound where very very nice for the $
I was very impressed with all aspects of this guitar. I would give this model the 2 eS.G. "thumbs up"

I fell for the frenzy....got a hell of a cheap deal.....and sold it for zero loss. I have bad carpal tunnel and the neck was a deal killer for me but the guitar was EXCELLENT for the $

Sorry to hear about your wrist, that sucks.
A lot of the guys were happy with their guitars, some, not so much. This is to be exoected, no two people are alike, or will like the same things.
If it's true the HBs are made by the same folks who make the Jay Tursers, that's a plus. i have an older JT 134 semi hollow singllecut that i really like, It's about the size of an Ibanez George Benson model, slightly bigger than a Lester, smaller than a 335. Maybe in the range of a 339, but having never played one of those, i can't say for sure.
Too bad i can't find another....

Many good reviews about Harley Benton guitars. Have a look to this HB Telecaster (150 €)

I had a JT Semi Hollow Double Cut....wish I still did damn fine guitar. It was big like a casino ......all the items I have had from this factory have been fine guitars.
My wrists are a symptom of what was/is has been my chosen profession since 1987 on and off. I could have the surgery.......but I use braces when needed and don't play fat neck guitars.....and all is well lol

Uh, what IS your chosen profession, if i may ask? Soumds painful, or dangerous at least.
For years, i taught martial arts, which can be rough on the hands and joints in general. i find playing a guitar much more rewarding since slowing down, although there are times when my fretting hand cramps so elaborately that i literally cannot let go of the neck. Great for the Neil Young "one note solo", but not much else...

Ha....my "chosen" prfesion was drunk millionaire rock and roller .............that didn't work out.............

I have been many things.....by "volume" screen printer wins .....and for many years I have worked manual presses. Cranking out (literally) 10's of MILLIONS of printed textiles signs....decals....etc.
THis guy is SLOW as crap........

Now .....we do average orders around 200-500 pcs.(he has about 72 pcs on the table) and we have started orders now for Walmart over the past year that are 130,000 pcs !!!!! This is a one color job...(video) .....if you have 5 color jobs then its 5 times that movement per shirt.......over 2 decades......makes for some swollen carpal tunnels...arthritis......a foul mouth....a bad attitude and a hell of a pessimistic outlook on life..........oh and I have done a number of Sales GIGS over the years as well. ;)
