I agree, the three pick up customs are gorgeous though. But like you, that middle pick up alters my playing style. When Gibson did a run of 400 of the Classic Custom I hopes right on it.

They also make a two pick up custom now, but with the small pick guard. Also a sharp looking guitar, but I think I am still kean on mine.

That my friend is the ultimate in my opinion..and you don't have to remove a middle pickup to accomplish it..well done..they are hard to find used..

playing with the three humbucker is a bit different than playing with the three single coils, because there is no space for picking. but like everything about the guitar "is a matter of habit".

A well-worn delicious-looking white Custom with a stop bar? My dream guitar! WOOT! I am beyond envious.:D

(I was seriously starting to wonder if there was any white SG Customs at all here, here on ET-frigging-SG!)

    That Custom, nicolas13 ... Sweet Jeebus!:D

Hey gang! I’m new here and new to guitar as well. I’m a bassist, don’t judge me

Anyway I scored a ‘19 SG last week and Im really digging it. I thought this would be a good place to share it. The amp is a 5E3 Mission kit I built. Sounds deluxe!

Thanks ruster! When I was shopping around, I wasn't quite sure about all the details like batwing vs half pg, 490R/T vs 490/498 vs 57s, one piece body vs two, etc. I just went for it and once I got it in my hands, none of that stuff mattered. I love it.

Oh, I hear you. Quickly get the SG fever as they just play like a dream. I had an 86 -SG62 for years and did not know what I had until I joined this site. I also wanted to try the 1 9/16 nut width so researched and found my 1976. Love it and have it in for new frets, nut and new harmonica bridge and T-top pickups. Can't wait..welcome!!

Castles. Hard to come by, they aren't made any more. They are a lot like WCR Godwoods. Very fat, sweet highs.

Are you replacing the Tarbacks with T-tops? I would love T-tops in my '74.

No..my 76 came to me with a 498T/490R setup..I prefer t-tops for the vintage feel of AC/DC..pre back n black sound..the 498T in the bridge is quite nice..I will keep it for another project..my 86 -62 SG..has shaw pups stock..very sweet
