There's something that has been bugging me of late: Posts with "quoted" photos.

I have no objection to a quote with a (i.e. one) relevant photo to illustrate the author's point, but why the hell do some people insist on quoting a whole stream of photos just to comment at the end, "Nice guitar, man"?

I find it annoying to scroll down dozens of repeated photographs to get to the gist of the post, and all because someone cannot be arsed to edit them out. Please people, stop clogging up the system with unnecessary pictures and take the time to delete the surplus ones from your post.

    Thank you. :)

If the photos are in the post before yours is it really necessary to "quote" them?
Running through a thread and seeing the same set of pictures 7 times seems a
bit silly to me. In fact, it seems a LOT silly to me.

Actually, my gripe could be extended to all unnecessary quotes in replies, such as the one above. IT'S JUST NOT NEEDED!!!

And here is a gratuitous pic so that the next respondent can "quote" it! :fingersx:

    They'd better not. :(

Could pics of really good looking women possibly be exempted from this ruling?

    Otherwise, good suggestion!

I've avoided saying the same thing, in case I get shouted at. :)

I'm also not going to mention single word posts, "Wow", "Cool",
"Awesome" etc, made my new members to quickly increase
their post count, for some strange reason, either. :)

I feel tempted to post a quote with a "Wow" or "Cool" in response to the lengthy quoted posts of the worst offenders. :naughty:

You've probably noticed who they are already. :hmm:

Thanks, javamagic. I'd like to add that this could apply to quotes in general. If someone makes a long post, and you want to quote it in a reply, delete the parts of the quoted post that don't apply to your response.

Just include the parts that preserve the context of the quote and pertain to the reply.

But that would require effort and take 5 seconds longer!

I agree whole heartedly, and often try to do this myself.

And your point is??? I couldn't help it.

Where have you been hiding this photo? I don't ever remember seeing you post it before. That Newport bass is ultra-cool.

Not my guitars John. Just a pic I found on gbase (probably) when doing a bit of research: matching Epiphone Newport bass and Coronet in Inverness Green. Very nice. :thumb:

Yes, very nice indeed. I figured you found the photo surfing.

Do we have that practice here,
    (purple = sarcasm)
or is it exclusive to that other forum?

I guess that I should start posting in purple more often. Sarcasm is so difficult to master in print.

There was a Boston Music Scene forum that had all sorts of little practices that made it a bit more fun. Any time someone started a poll, one of the options was anal. You didn't see it when you were creating the poll, it showed up after hitting the "post thread" button. One of the word filters changed "awesome" to "Mott the Hoople." There were a few others, but I forget them now. The sight went downhill after one of the administrators passed away, and another quit. It's too bad, because it was a really fun forum at one point in time.
