The SG Godess is nice
some more oddballs
SG Special Platinum
SG Original 2, nice dark cherry finish
I'd ask for a close up of the front and back of the headstock. Doesn't look right to me, but I can't pinpoint why that is. The pick guard also does not look right to me (might not even be multi ply can't ell for sure). If it is a real Gibson, and I see the neck has binding...it should have Gibson NIBS on the ends of the frets, that would be a dead giveaway unless it's been refretted. Good luck.
That looks just like the SG Godess that Gibsg just posted. I like this. Some research: 498T and 490R PU's. Made in 06 - 07? If in excellent condition, a range would be $900 - $1100. Probably 1200 - 1300 when it was new. I checked at Reverb.com, and a description stated "smaller body"... but I can't tell if it really is. Looks very cool, and looks stock to me.
Thanks guys, I did some digging too and it is definitely the Goddess. I say throw some witch hats on there with chrome covers on the pickups and that is a damn nice guitar. Hopefully the seller gets back to me and I get to try it out at least! I'll post in here if I acquire it. Cheers and keep those SGs coming
pretty sure the Goddess models have lighter/slimmer bodies and thinner neck profiles. i think they were designed for/marketed towards female players
still nice guitars. probably great if you like slim necks
Another unique SG... mid 90s "All American" SG1... They come stock with the tuneOmatic, a bucker and a coil-tap... I swapped the bucker out for a P90...
If you find a cream 1997 Limited Edition go for this SG
I noticed GC has an option for a Pelham Blue Reissue at around 1300 on the website. I have not seen one of these, do they exist or is it a typo? I'm trying to find something older than 2014, seems like the fretboard changed in 2014.
There is also the other end of the scale of rare colours of certain models as well.
This for instance, most classics are cherry.
Here's a couple of oddballs I wouldn't mind trying out
That SG3 single is nice, occasionally they come around for cheap. I'm really liking the desert burst, natural burst or the Pelham Blue if I can find it.
There is one of these for sale by me for a real good deal, I'm thinking of picking it up but I'm not really into the color so much. Oh well, if it plays fine who cares. The seller says it is one of 600 made, rare enough for me.
I went to a different GC on the other side of town, they have a 2014 SG '61 Reissue on sale in desert burst. The salesman there knocked it into another guitar taking it off the wall, I didn't see any damage but wasn't really trying to point that out in front of him. He said the 2015 models have much more chunky necks than the 2014 models, and that the 2014 models have basically the same necks as previous years. However they do have a 2013 Firebird Anniversary model for a tiny bit more. I've never had one before, decisions decisions...
2012 Jeff Tweedy SG
They were cool, but if I recall the neck was very narrow. Felt cramped and I couldn't get comfortable, but I only played one in a store for a few minutes. I remember picking it up because it had a wicked blueburst sort of finish.
This is one of my favorite SG's. Rare color indeed. I've never seen one in person. Also... one of my favorite YouTube-guitar playing, demonstrating, and tasteful guitarists, by the name of Gregor Hilden (German?), did a sweet clip of the Tweedy SG...
