    That's nice. My first electric guitar was a Melody Maker. And I still have it - a 1961 burst.

    I SOOOOOOOOOOOOO WISH I Still had my first guitar.

    MY 70's BLACK LES PAUL Std that had the uncovered T Top pups in it with the original Purple lined contoured case. Dummy me sold for $400-$425 in 1991.

    It was on that more modern model. I have one in that same blue from 2013.

    I had an SG1, great guitar. Very hot 500T pickup with a coil split switch. A good alternative for you. Don't chop up your guitar! This was mine.
