I put some parts on the body so that I can see the finished image. Actually, I'm going to put a short vibrola.

Compared to Miwako's SG, yellow on mine is a bit darker.

After applying stain on the neck, I'm going to spray clear to coat the guitar.

now, do you think the darker color might have to do with the lack of finish? I think it will look much brighter after the finish is on. even though its dull it looks about the same to my eyes

Your stain seems to show the grain better, if that's even the right way to describe what I'm seeing, and personally, I've always liked to see the grain, especially in Mahogany, but I know we're not near finished yet! Is Miwako's SG a poly finish? And are you going to use a " thin " see thru nitro finish on yours or poly?

I think I remember reading hers is an Edwards, if its one of the Lacquer Taste series, I think they do poly and then a once all over spray of nitro, making the "nitro topcoat" they always talk about.

    Thanks all,

    Miwako's SG is a 1994 Gibson SG standard. So it's a nitro.

I'm going to use a see through nitro on this guitar. I love to see the grain, too! Now I have applied stain on the neck. I have to do something more to the head. Then spray time! :)

Just looked at your "almost finished" photos. I am seriously impressed. Photos don't usually show as good as real life so I can't imagine how cool this thing looks up close and personal. :Droolin:

    Excellent job!
